The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for filing entries with US Customs and other government agencies as well as interacting with importers, government agencies, truckers and warehouses via email and telephone.

The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for filing entries with US Customs and other government agencies as well as interacting with importers, government agencies, truckers and warehouses via email and telephone.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Clearing goods through customs, working with other government agencies such as FDA, USDA etc.

  • Classifying goods according to tariff coding system.

  • Preparing and processing import documentation according to customs regulations, laws, or procedures.

  • Arrange for payment of taxes and duties on shipments.

  • Bill customers

  • Sign documents on behalf of clients, using powers of attorney.

  • Monitor or trace the location of goods.

  • Assist clients in obtaining bonds and other necessary documentation.

  • Arrange for transportation or warehousing of imported products.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 plus years of experience in processing Customs entries in ACE.

  • Understanding of PGA requirements.

  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proven understanding of the Customs entry process requirements and flow.

  • Customer focused can-do attitude.

  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures specific to a client.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The position is in an indoor, office environment, requires the ability to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors verbally and in writing, sit for periods of time, operate typical office equipment which requires seeing and the use of a keyboard.
