Opportunity Overview
As the Director, Global Payroll, you will lead Rhythm's payroll function for the North America and International regions.ย  This individual will be responsible for optimizing all pay systems and reporting and ensuring we are compliant with all state and country specific rules and regulations. The role will oversee a Sr. Payroll Specialist based in the Netherlands and will report to the VP, Corporate Controller. The Director, Global Payroll will be a key collaborator with partners in accounting, finance and HR. ย ย ย 
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead the global payroll function and deliver high-quality service to employees. Oversee payroll operations across multiple countries to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Manage and provide oversight to Payroll team.ย  Oversee the entry and provide approvals for US payroll.ย  Oversee the entry and provide approvals for international payrolls executed by external vendors.ย  Collaborate with partners across accounting, finance and HR on payroll related matters.
  • Ensure proper payment of wages and salaries for regular and off cycle US payrolls, partnering with ADP to ensure that our payroll systems are correctly configured to process earnings and deductions, achieving federal, state and country guidelines (as applicable).
  • Oversee new state and/or country setups as required and respond timely to all payroll related federal and state and country notices.ย  Ensure all pay-related transactions and any related issuances/annual tax forms are completed timely and accurately.ย 
  • Review employee data, including new hire entries, terminations, salary changes, and benefits information to ensure accurate payroll calculations.
  • Review and reconcile payroll data, ensuring all deductions, taxes, and contributions are accurately calculated and processed.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, labor regulations and payroll compliance requirements across North America and International regions, ensuring timely updates to payroll processes.
  • Own, update and communicate pay-related actions, activities, best practices, policies and notices.ย  Manage Payroll and time-off materials and training on our intranet.
  • Process owner for internal controls over the global payroll cycle
  • Identify enhancements to the systems supporting payroll and timekeeping processes while working closely with stakeholders across accounting, finance and HR for functional support.
  • Ensure all employee pay and time off inquiries are resolved timely.ย ย 
  • Assist in the implementation and testing of payroll system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Conduct periodic audits of payroll records to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors.
  • Process the payroll effects of equity transactions
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed.

Qualifications and Skills
  • 10+ years of payroll experience, including at least 3+ years leading the payroll function at a global organization
  • Prior experience as a people manager
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, payroll methods, Department of Labor regulations, federal and state tax regulations and international regulations.
  • Experience with ADP is required.ย 
  • Proactive working style with strong attention to detail and accuracy; analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Curious, accountable and willing to learn and apply knowledge to improve processes
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to collaboration

This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs. This role may involveย some travel.
The expected salary range for this position is $182,000 - $275,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance. This role may be eligible for benefits and other compensation such as restricted stock units.
