Contracts Manager

Panopto

OR • Remote

$100K - $120K/yr

Full-time

Job description

Company Overview:

At Panopto, we are the most customer-centric learning technology company in the world. As the leader in visual and audio-based learning, we empower organizations to share knowledge effortlessly in a capture and post-capture world. We don’t just build software; we obsess over our users’ goals to deliver solutions that truly matter. Our mission is simple: to attract the brightest talent, people like you, to Elevate the Craft and do the most impactful work of your career.

As a Contracts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating Panopto’s business growth by designing, reviewing, and scaling our global contract infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, you will serve as a strategic business partner to our Sales, Finance, and Information Security teams. You will take ownership of the contract lifecycle—ranging from rapid-turnaround NDAs to commercial vendor and customer agreements—ensuring we protect company interests while maintaining the operational velocity needed to close transactions quickly.

How You’ll Contribute: In this role, you will have the opportunity to…
  • Accelerate Deal Velocity: Review, redline, and negotiate customer, vendor, and partner agreements, balancing robust risk management with a pragmatic approach to closing business.

  • Optimize Legal Infrastructure: Manage the legal department’s intake queue within Salesforce, establishing clear triage patterns and conducting initial assessments to resolve inquiries efficiently.

  • Drive Process Automation: Utilize and continuously improve contract management and automation software to streamline initial reviews and eliminate manual administrative friction.

  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Align with Sales, Finance, Executive leadership, and InfoSec to ensure all necessary compliance approvals are smoothly achieved during the transactional lifecycle.

Within 6 Months — Integration and Audit
  • Conduct an audit of the existing legal case queue and contract data to identify the primary bottlenecks slowing down sales cycles.

  • Achieve full autonomy over the intake, initial triage, and standard redlining of standard customer NDAs and vendor agreements.

Within 1 Year — First Measurable Impact on Contract Cycle Times
  • Reduce the contract-to-close latency for standard agreements by implementing structured playbooks and workflow improvements within the contract management system.

  • Successfully transition routine contract reviews away from executive leadership, allowing the broader team to focus on highly strategic initiatives.

Your Legacy — Full Ownership of Commercial Operations
  • Build out a highly automated, self-sustaining commercial contract framework that scales effortlessly alongside Panopto’s global expansion.

Values in Action
  • Customer First, Always: You proactively surface friction points in the customer experience before they are escalated—and propose solutions, not just reports.

  • Thrive Together: You share work-in-progress for early feedback, knowing that challenge improves the outcome. You separate critiques of ideas from critiques of people.

  • Elevate the Craft: You hold the bar high on your own work and invest in developing those around you. You treat every project as an opportunity to learn something new.

  • Act with Ownership: You define success by outcomes, not activity. You flag problems early and bring a proposed path forward, not just the problem.

  • Clarity Over Complexity: You default to the simpler solution. Your written communication—internal or external—is direct, specific, and free of filler.

How We Thrive

"You’ll join a team where we challenge ideas, not people, knowing our success depends on our collective wisdom. We believe in simple elegance and holding ourselves accountable to outcomes, not just activity". The legal team thrives by providing clear, objective, and solution-oriented paths forward rather than just pointing out legal risks. We operate via collaborative review sessions, helping each other navigate complex negotiations without silos.

The Foundation for Success
  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating commercial legal agreements (such as customer software agreements, vendor contracts, and partner frameworks) within a corporate ecosystem.

  • System Fluency: Experience working within Salesforce and specialized contract management lifecycle (CLM) platforms to track workflows and drive operational clarity.

  • Pragmatic Problem Solving: A sharp focus on details combined with the ability to think quickly, execute deliberate project follow-through, and exercise exceptional commercial judgment.

  • Diplomatic Communication: Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to build solid, collaborative relationships across sales, finance, and external client teams.

What Sets You Apart
  • A proven history of leveraging legal automation tools to materially decrease standard deal cycle times.

  • A formal legal education background (such as a J.D., LL.M., or a Bachelor’s degree paired with robust corporate paralegal credentials) that balances theoretical correctness with practical business execution.

What Success Looks Like

By day 90, you will have assumed complete operational management of the Salesforce legal case queue and completed a diagnostic assessment of contract process friction points, creating a direct path to faster deal execution.
