Job description

Company:
Guy Carpenter
Description:
Guy Carpenter is looking for individuals with reinsurance contract drafting experience to join our expanding North American Contracts Team, with your level of experience determining your role (Contract Associate, Senior Contract Associate, or Senior Contract Specialist) and title (Assistance Vice President, Vice President, or Senior Vice President).
You'll want to join our team if you:
Value work-life balance. We offer a hybrid work schedule for our offices in New York, NY, Edina, MN, Seattle, WA, and Philadelphia, PA, with consideration for other US-based locations. Remote work is an option for candidates with significant reinsurance experience. Our current summer schedule includes a mid-day release on Fridays.
Appreciate an inclusive and diverse work culture. For us, these aren't just buzzwords - we demonstrate and support these principles through our GC Embrace and Women LEAD (Leadership, Excellence, Action, Development) programs, and are dedicated to promoting and supporting diversity in our team.
Have professional aspirations. Whatever your career goals are, we want to provide you with opportunities to expand your skills and gather the professional experience needed to achieve them - and the Contracts Team includes direct career paths into either team management or into the Global Contract Consultant team, our group of reinsurance contract experts.
We will count on you to:
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of a reinsurance contract for your assigned accounts, including drafting the contract language to reflect the intent of the reinsurance negotiations between the client and reinsurers, initiating the contract transmittal and coordinating the execution of all final documentation.
  • Build relationships with reinsurance brokers and clients and answer any contract-related inquiries on your accounts as needed.
  • Provide reinsurance contract analysis either independently or in collaboration with the Global Contract Consultant team, including receiving training on and having access to Guy Carpenter's AI-assisted contract analysis tool.
  • Support the development of our team for future success, by mentoring and facilitating our colleagues new to the industry through our Contract Drafter Academy, Guy Carpenter's reinsurance onboarding curriculum.
  • Lead and/or collaborate with colleagues to complete projects on behalf of the Contracts Team, including creating and presenting training on reinsurance industry topics, and developing workflow tools to aid in the efficiency and accuracy of our work product.

What you need to have:
  • 2+ years of reinsurance experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills (both written and verbal), the ability to independently manage and prioritize tasks, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

What makes you stand out:
  • Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation and/or law degree.
  • Knowledge of contract law, contract provisions, reinsurance concepts and principles, basic regulatory controls, and general business trends.

Why join our team:
  • We empower you to excel through professional development opportunities, engaging work, and supportive leadership.
  • We promote a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can collaborate with talented colleagues to develop innovative solutions that make a meaningful impact on clients and communities.
  • Our scale provides a diverse range of career opportunities, along with comprehensive benefits and rewards designed to enhance your well-being.
