At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

We have an opportunity to be a Release Train Engineer (RTE) on one of the largest Portfolios within Schwab which contains key platforms including: Schwab.com, Schwab Mobile, and Digital Messaging.  This role has high visibility and is critical to ensuring the successful execution and planning for Schwab's flagship platforms.

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader who is accountable for the flow of value delivery through the program while ensuring alignment with adopted Scaled Agile concepts, company strategy, commitments, and goals. This role is responsible for facilitating program-level (a.k.a. Agile Release Train, or “ART”) events, ensuring resolution of impediments/issues/risks, and fostering program-level continuous improvement activities. The RTE is a critical link between multiple agile teams and the Portfolio-level; facilitating collaborative meetings by opening the flow of information to ensure all teams involved in the ART are focused on successful delivery and progress transparency.

An RTE is the glue that keeps the ART synchronized. They facilitate alignment across multiple teams and roles - from Scrum Masters to product managers to system architects.

  • Maximizing delivery
  • PI Planning Preparation – work with business, product, and technology leadership to ensure that the work that is prioritized for the teams aligns with the enterprise’s (and Schwab’s) strategic goals and that expected outcomes related to those priorities are defined.
  • PI Planning – helps ensure that the work the teams commit to aligns with the priorities set by leadership. Encouraging realistic planning and transparency around what can and cannot be achieved within the PI. Facilitating the resolution of any prioritization conflicts.
  • ART Sync – monitoring progress towards commitments, ensuring transparency around progress, scope changes and trade-offs, and assisting the teams in clearing risks and roadblocks through escalation.
  • ART Demo – facilitating team demos to stakeholders to ensure that what’s being delivered meets their expectations.
