This posting is for Summer 2027 New Graduate opportunities.
IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering New Graduate in New York, NY, to support the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one.
You will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to help develop practical engineering solutions for clients. In this role, you will support project planning and scheduling, document design decisions and client instructions, participate in quality control processes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and client expectations across government/municipal and science and technology work, advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
  • Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems, using engineering software and tools to develop designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards.

  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.

  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.

  • Support the execution of consulting projects as part of a project team.

  • Assist with project planning and scheduling to help meet deadlines and objectives.

  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.

  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions.

  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to help ensure designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.

  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.

  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work, identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.

What You'll Bring
Required
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

  • Engineering in Training (EIT) or equivalent required

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings

  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools, including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; energy compliance software such as ComCheck; and familiar use of Adobe or Bluebeam Revu

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges

  • Basic knowledge in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Preferred
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

  • Engineering in Training (EIT) License preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 Pounds

State of New York Salary Range: $76,000 - $80,000 per year
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
