Queens College of Theology is seeking a technologically savvy and service-oriented Volunteer Online Librarian to support and expand our digital library and online academic resources. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys curating digital content, supporting online learners, and strengthening access to theological and academic materials in a fully or primarily online environment. The Online Librarian plays a vital role in ensuring students and faculty have reliable, ethical, and accessible digital resources to support teaching, learning, and research.
Key Responsibilities Develop, organize, and maintain the college's digital library collections, including e-books, academic journals, and online databases Identify, evaluate, and add new digital resources and books relevant to theology, biblical studies, ministry, and related disciplines Assist students and faculty with online research, digital resource navigation, and citation support Maintain accurate records of digital holdings and access permissions Support faculty by recommending digital texts and resources for course syllabi Help develop and document online library policies and procedures Assist with accreditation and compliance documentation related to library resources Promote ethical and effective use of digital academic materials Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Strong organizational and digital literacy skills Comfort working with online platforms, databases, and digital documents Ability to work independently in a remote environment Commitment to the mission and values of Queens College of Theology Preferred Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited university, preferably in Library Science, Information Science, Theology, or a related field Experience with online or academic libraries, digital collections, or learning management systems Familiarity with open-access resources, e-book platforms, and academic databases Understanding of theological research and citation standards Appointment Details This is a volunteer, non-compensated position Fully remote with a flexible schedule Time commitment is negotiable based on availability and institutional needs Why Serve as a Volunteer Online Librarian?
