Job description

NOTE:  This position will be based full-time in our Houston, TX office currently located in Galleria area, and moving to City Center area in May 2026.

POSITION SUMMARY:  Reporting to the Director, Project Management Center of Excellence until embedded within a performing organization as a dedicated Project Manager, this role will manage internal and/or external projects, leading a diverse cross-functional team to advance the NuScale Small Modular Reactor design, fabrication and deployment. Working collaboratively with other departments to ensure delivery of projects to meet customer requirements and deliver customer value while achieving cost, schedule, quality and other specified targets and objectives, the successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, project-focused work environment, with the ability to quickly acclimate to new teams, project structures, and organizational priorities. 

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Manages the overall planning and execution of project activities for assigned projects.
  2. Documents and maintains the approved baseline, earned value planning and management, risk management, and project execution strategy in a Project Management Plan.
  3. Proactively identifies and achieves resolution of project problems and anticipated challenges, including escalation of issues within the NuScale organization when necessary.
  4. Provides weekly and monthly status reports focused on project performance (earned value metrics, variance analysis, etc.), schedule and cost risk mitigations, and issue resolution to project stakeholders.
  5. Coordinates with performing organization management personnel to assign work package managers and qualified resources for project execution.
  6. Develops, maintains and controls project-specific plans and procedures needed for the efficient execution of the project.
  7. Reviews statements of work for subcontracted scopes and provides oversight of subcontractors.
  8. Maintains a standard of high quality and timely completion of tasks.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
 
MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline is required.  An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years’ full-time experience in project management or related field. Other required or preferred experience includes:
    • Demonstrated application of Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge principles and processes. (required)
    • Demonstrated application of integrated cost and schedule control, or ANSI EIA-748-C Earned Value Management System practices. (required)
    • Project Management experience in the nuclear industry, energy industry, power plant architect/engineering (A/E), power plant engineering procurement construction (EPC), or US Department of Energy nuclear projects. (preferred)
    • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent certification program completion. (preferred)
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits: 

The target pay range for this position is $99,175 - $119,694 annually.  The full pay range is $88,915 - $139,073 annually.
