As a Home Health Certified Nursing Assistant, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:

  • Provide compassionate in-home care to seniors and individuals with illnesses, injuries, chronic conditions, and disabilities.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene, feeding, and nutritional support.
  • Assist with ambulation, transfers, repositioning, and range of motion exercises.
  • Monitor and report changes in the patient's condition to the supervising nurse.
  • Check vital signs, monitor intake and output, and document care accurately.
  • Follow individualized care plans while collaborating with nurses and the healthcare team.
  • Provide care for patients with complex neurological and mobility conditions, including:
    • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
    • Quadriplegia
    • Spinal cord injuries
    • Parkinson's disease
    • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
  • Assist with bowel programs and other specialized personal care needs while maintaining patient dignity, comfort, and safety.
  • Safely utilize gait belts, Hoyer lifts, transfer devices such as sliding boards, and proper body mechanics when assisting patients.

A few must-haves for Home Health Certified Nursing Assistants:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional caregiving or CNA experience required. Home health experience preferred.
  • Active Texas Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Experience caring for patients with neurological disorders, spinal cord injuries, bowel programs, and complex mobility needs is strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR certification 
  • Valid Texas driver’s license, auto insurance, and transportation
  • Compassionate nature, good communicator, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
