Library Lead
Position is Contingent upon Contract Award
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a full-time Library Lead, in Wallops Island, VA.
  • Manages a Technical Library in order to meet and manage technical book and report collections, digitization of documents, searching online reference catalog, and data base management, destruction, and transmittal of classified material.
Job Description:
  • Oversee and manage Technical Libraries (Navy Combat Systems) utilizing corporate level business tools for materials located in the Technical Libraries.
  • Conduct quarterly inventories of at least 5% of overall holdings and provide inventory reports for each Technical Library to include; items inventoried during each month, total media on hand, new media, media processed, media destroyed, items transferred out, and items received.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet library schedules using knowledge of equipment performance, quality of product.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems.
  • Trains employees in procedures and assignments.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in an information management, information science technology, or technical library and information center discipline OR at least 3 years of proven experience in supervision/management of personnel; to include workflow management, project development, workforce coordination and tutoring/training of subordinates.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience to include: operation of a technical library program; providing technical information services such as web products, visual information products; acquiring library products; library reference assistance; and maintaining records from various online sources.
  • Must have the ability to perform specialized technical tasking to include review of technical book and report collections, digitization of documents, searching online reference catalog, and data base management, destruction, and transmittal of classified material.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of security requirements for handling, storage, inventory and destruction of classified material in accordance with SECNAV 5510 (series).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Current experience supporting Navy Land Based Test Sites
Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal travel required.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information and repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), subject to noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (affect the respiratory system), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia)
