Introduction The PT 20-hour Library Associate at the Rockville Branch of Pamunkey Regional Library plays an important role in delivering welcoming, responsive, and reliable library services to the community. This position serves as a key member of the frontline service team, assisting patrons with accessing materials, navigating library resources, and utilizing the many services offered by the library. Working in a busy public service environment, the PT Library Associate helps ensure that daily circulation operations run smoothly while supporting patrons with professionalism and care.

In addition to assisting the public, the role supports branch operations by coordinating workflows, maintaining organized service areas, and providing guidance to staff as needed. Through strong customer service, attention to detail, and collaboration with branch staff, the PT Library Associate helps create a positive and inclusive library experience for all visitors to the Rockville Library. About This Role The PT Library Associate at the Rockville Branch serves as a key member of the library's frontline service team, helping ensure that patrons receive prompt, helpful, and welcoming assistance when visiting the library.

This role focuses on supporting daily circulation operations, assisting patrons with locating materials and using library resources, and helping maintain an organized and efficient public service environment. Library Associates work closely with the Branch Manager and other branch staff to support the overall operation of the library. In addition to assisting patrons, this position helps manage circulation workflows, maintain library collections and service areas, and support administrative tasks that keep the branch running smoothly.

This role may also include supervising staff and assisting with branch operations when assigned, particularly during times when the Branch Manager or other supervisory staff are unavailable. The Library Associate helps ensure that the library continues to provide reliable service while maintaining a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for all members of the community. Success in this role requires strong customer service skills, the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a customer-facing environment, and a commitment to supporting the mission of Pamunkey Regional Library by providing excellent service to the Rockville community.

Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working with the public in a customer service environment is preferred. Library experience or experience in a public service setting such as retail, hospitality, education, or community services is preferred.

Preferences Ability to provide friendly, professional, and helpful service to patrons of all ages and backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and the public.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a busy service environment. Strong computer and technology skills, and ability to learn library circulation systems and office software, and assist others with technology. Ability to follow policies and procedures while exercising sound judgment in assisting patrons.
