Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
M&B Contract Specialties, Inc., located in Owings Mills, MD, is seeking a full-time Estimator to prepare and coordinate estimates at every project stage โ€” from schematic design through design development and construction documents. This role involves soliciting subcontractor bids, evaluating scopes of work, preparing quantity take-offs, and reviewing project plans and specifications. Projects include the installation of window treatments (blinds and Shades, cubicle curtains, and projection screens.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review construction documents and understand the scope of work to be bid.
  • Execute detailed take-offs from construction documents.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates.
  • Consult with industry experts to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
  • Use estimating software to calculate and prepare project estimates.
  • Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, and government requirements.
  • Recommend ways to make products and processes more cost-effective and profitable.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and sales meetings as required.
  • Partner with ownership to prepare estimates and bids for clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
  • Experience in window treatments preferred.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.
