The Building People, LLC seeks a qualified Construction Estimator to prepare, estimate, and analyze costs for government facility construction and repair projects. The Estimator develops accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment; reads and interprets construction schemes and drawings; manages the tendering and bidding process; and coordinates with engineers, architects, owners, and contractors on feasibility studies. The Estimator also establishes and maintains cost monitoring and reporting systems, maintains a directory of suppliers and subcontractors, manages and coordinates construction projects, and prepares construction progress schedules.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience preparing detailed estimates of materials, labor, and equipment costs for construction or repair projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and schemes to develop accurate project cost estimates
  • Experience establishing and maintaining the tendering and bidding process
  • Proficiency setting up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
  • Experience maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, architects, owners, and contractors on feasibility studies and cost adjustments
  • Experience managing and coordinating construction projects and preparing construction progress schedules
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar project management software
  • Working knowledge of R.S. Means Online Estimating System or equivalent cost estimating software
  • All personnel must obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Level 3) security clearance.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience estimating costs for federal government construction or repair projects
  • Familiarity with GSA facility management and procurement requirements
  • Experience with cost estimating for large commercial, institutional, or law enforcement facilities

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution; or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Professional certification such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or equivalent
