Job description

Job Title: Estimator – Exterior Cladding & Building Envelope

Location: Charleston, SC or Charlotte, NC or Savannah, GA

Position Summary
A reputable commercial construction contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator specializing in exterior cladding and building envelope systems. This role is responsible for developing accurate, competitive bids and supporting preconstruction efforts for façade-related scopes across a variety of commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for exterior cladding systems, including metal panels, ACM, fiber cement, insulated panels, EIFS, stucco, siding, and rainscreen assemblies
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and bid documents to define scope and identify risks
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Develop scope clarifications, exclusions, and value engineering options
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and general contractors during preconstruction
  • Track bid opportunities and manage multiple estimates in a deadline-driven environment
  • Maintain and update cost databases, unit pricing, and historical project data
  • Assist with project handoff to operations teams upon award

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in exterior cladding, façade systems, or related construction trades
  • Strong understanding of building envelope principles, including waterproofing, air barriers, and thermal systems
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, details, and specifications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating/takeoff software
  • Effective communication and coordination skills

Preferred (but not required)

  • Experience with systems such as curtain wall, storefront, or composite panel systems
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Planswift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
