Job Description

  • Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for public bridge and heavy civil construction projects
  • Review plans, specifications, contract documents, and work scopes to identify key bid requirements and project risks
  • Develop bid strategy in partnership with area management, operations, and project leadership
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, conduct field checks, and evaluate project conditions
  • Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Verify quantities, assign resources, and apply appropriate production rates
  • Evaluate design options, construction methods, and alternate approaches to help secure profitable work
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals, supporting documentation, and required pricing details
  • Support contract negotiations, subcontractor agreements, and purchase order finalization
  • Monitor job cost feedback from active projects and use that insight to improve future estimating accuracy
  • Build positive relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience with bridge-intensive projects, bridge estimating, heavy civil estimating, or bridge construction
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, and bid requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and HCSS HeavyBid or similar estimating software
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with operations and project teams
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
