Sumter Local Government Consulting is pleased to be assisting Perry, GA, in conducting a recruitment for their next Community Development Director.
The Community Development Director in Perry, GA is a key position in this growing community.This individual plans, directs, manages, and oversees the operations of the Community Development department which includes planning and zoning, permitting, code enforcement, inspections coordination, engineering services, infrastructures development review, GIS oversight, and related community improvement initiatives.
The Community Development Director provides strategic leadership for the City's planning, development, redevelopment, and growth management initiatives while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Serving as a trusted advisor to the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager, the Director guides implementation of the City's Comprehensive Plan and oversees administration of the Perry Land Management Ordinance (PLMO) and Future Land Use Map (FLUM) to support responsible, sustainable growth.
The Director oversees planning and zoning, permitting, inspections, code enforcement, development review, and GIS operations while managing the department's budget, capital projects, grants, and community development initiatives. The position also provides professional support to the Planning and Historic Commission and other assigned boards and committees.
A collaborative and forward-thinking leader, the Director builds strong relationships with residents, developers, business owners, contractors, elected officials, and community stakeholders. The position supervises and develops department staff, promotes operational excellence and accountability, and ensures the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused community development services that align with the City's long-term vision.
Salary Range
$102,700 - $142,200
