Job description

General Position Summary: The Director of Catholic Campus Ministry - Tarleton State, under the direct supervision of the Pastor of St. Brendan Catholic Church and guidance of the Department of Evangelization & Catechesis of the Diocese of Fort Worth oversees all aspects of the Tarleton State Catholic Campus Ministry including spiritual, liturgical, catechetical, and social life of the students at Tarleton State.


The Director collaborates with the Servant Leadership Council to develop student activities, student groups, and campus retreats. Through intentional discipleship, the Director helps to form student leaders to be missionary disciples who go out to evangelize on the Tarleton State Campus. The Director of Campus Ministry is responsible in the development, coordination, supervision and execution of parish Campus Ministry programs designed to engage and educate young adults within a campus ministry setting. They will act as an advocate and link for students, young adults and campus ministry teams with the surrounding community. The Director of Campus Ministry should be a faithful and practicing Catholic.


Principal Accountabilities:


ยท Coordinate liturgical opportunities for students with St. Brendan priest: Sunday Mass, Daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession

ยท Coordinate catechetical opportunities for students: weekly formation nights, small group discipleship, special catechetical presentations, guest speakers, vocations, retreat planning, sacramental preparation for confirmation

ยท Oversee the formation of the Servant Leadership Council by providing intellectual and catechetical formation, additional opportunities for spiritual development, and helping to form them as missionary disciples.

ยท Participate in Departmental meetings and gatherings, work closely with the Director of Youth, Young Adult, & Campus Ministry, collaborate with other Campus Ministers in the Diocese.

ยท Continue own personal intellectual and spiritual formation through continuing education courses and workshops pertaining to evangelization & catechesis.

ยท Oversee all aspects of Tarleton State Catholic Campus Ministry participation in the SEEK Conference.

ยท Outreach to current parents, and former student members of Tarleton State Catholic Campus Ministry to assist with program fundraising.

ยท Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. Perform related duties based on location needs.


Supervision Given and/or Received:

ยท Received: direct supervision given to this position from Pastor of St. Brendan Catholic Church; moderate supervision given to this position from Department Director of Evangelization & Catechesis

ยท Full supervision of the Campus Ministry Student Assistant for Tarleton State Catholic Campus Ministry.

Administration:

ยท Follow and adhere to all Diocesan Employee Guidelines as set forth by the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

ยท This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business needs, tight deadlines, and heavy workloads.

ยท Ability to sit and perform computer work for lengthy periods of time.

ยท Able to access and maintain centralized departmental files. Involves extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels of shelves, climbing up a stepladder to access files.

ยท Significant amount of time regularly spent answering and speaking on the telephone providing customer service support and problem solving both internal and external customers.

ยท Data entry via computer keyboard requires repetitive and frequent hand and wrist movement.

ยท Ability to lift maximum 30 pounds without assistance and up to 50 pounds with assistance.

ยท Required to work some nights and weekends.

ยท Ability to maintain CONFIDENTIALITY.


Travel Requirements:

ยท Travel may be required to Diocesan Parishes and/or the Catholic Center, along with occasional trips to vendor locations for meetings.

ยท Travel may be required to vendor for supplies.

ยท Travel may be required to annual SEEK Conference


Education and Experience Preferred:

ยท Bachelorโ€™s degree in Theology required; Masterโ€™s degree in Theology preferred

ยท 1-4 yearsโ€™ experience in the areas of young adult and campus ministry preferred.


Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

ยท Knowledge of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites, and liturgies Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and pastoral ability.

ยท Knowledge of the application of the Catechumenal model (RCIA) model as the central method of teaching the Catholic faith

ยท Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices (including use of spreadsheet software), accounting principles, investment, and financial reporting methodologies

ยท Knowledge of cleaning/janitorial equipment; facilities; office practices such as record keeping techniques and file maintenance

ยท Knowledge and experience of computer software, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media

ยท Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team, and have effective time-management techniques.

ยท Must be able to effectively manage group dynamics as well as interpersonal relationships to yield positive results.

ยท Able to think proactively, critically, and plan effectively.
