Highlights:
CCS, CIC or CCDS and minimum 3 years coding in acute care setting required
Summary: Apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-, CPT & modifiers) to inpatient or outpatient accounts for data retrieval, analysis and claims processing. Queries physicians via the Clinical Coders or Case Managers when needed to improve/clarify documentation on inpatient records.
Education / Experience:High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 3 years coding in acute care setting required.
License / Certification: CCS, CIC or CCDS required; RHIA or RHIT certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Skill in the use of computers.
• Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
• Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Position requires sitting for 90% of the workday and mobility 10% of the workday.
There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
