Job Position: Fractional HR Support
Location: Austin, TX 78746
Pay Rate: starting at $60.00/hr
Description: Fractional HR & Payroll Support (Remote, 5-7 Hours/Month)
Overview
A boutique law firm is seeking a highly experienced fractional HR professional to provide ongoing monthly support for payroll administration and limited HR operations. This is a fully remote, extremely part-time role-ideal for an HR consultant or specialist who enjoys flexible, autonomous work and has deep familiarity with payroll and benefits platforms.
The workload averages 5-7 hours per month, with the ability to complete tasks on your own schedule as long as deadlines are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Administration (Weekly)
- Administer weekly payroll through PayChex
- Enter payroll adjustments and bonuses
- Run payroll reports proactively and as requested
- Ensure timely processing of scheduled bonus payments
- Maintain accuracy and compliance across all payroll activities
Onboarding & Offboarding Support (Occasional)
- Process new hire enrollments and terminations across all firm platforms:
- PayChex (payroll)
- Ameritas (401k)
- Principal (life insurance & short-term disability)
- TASC (HSA)
- Ensure all systems reflect correct employment status
- Coordinate with internal contacts to obtain required information
- Typical volume: 3-6 onboarding/offboarding events per year
Benefits & HR Administration
- Manage benefit-related enrollments/terminations (excluding healthcare, which is handled separately)
- Maintain accurate employee records across systems
- Follow established HR processes and ensure compliance
- Communicate proactively when information is needed to meet deadlines
Qualifications
- 3+ years of HR experience supporting a small or mid-sized company
- Strong background in payroll administration, especially with PayChex
- Experience with benefits platforms such as Ameritas, Principal, and TASC
- Solid understanding of HR processes, compliance, and documentation
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently
- Ability to anticipate needs and request information ahead of deadlines
- Professional communication style; minimal client interaction required
Work Style & Expectations
- Fully remote
- Work anytime, as long as payroll and compliance deadlines are met
- Must be proactive in requesting bonus lists, payroll changes, and other required inputs
- Must be comfortable working with minimal oversight
