Sr Embedded Systems Engineer (Hardware-focused)

We are seeking a hands-on Sr Embedded Hardware Engineer to lead the design and development of embedded electronic systems from concept through production. This role is focused on hardware ownership, including schematic design, PCB layout, and system bring-up, with supporting firmware development.

This is not a firmware-only role. Candidates should have strong experience designing and building physical hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded electronic systems from concept through production
  • Create schematics and perform multi-layer PCB layout
  • Develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits (sensor interfaces, power systems, high-speed signals)
  • Own ECAD design work using tools such as Altium, Cadence, or OrCAD
  • Perform board bring-up, debugging, and validation using lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.)
  • Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M or similar)
  • Design power systems, including battery management and regulation
  • Collaborate with mechanical teams on PCB/FPC integration and constraints
  • Ensure designs meet DFM/DFR, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC requirements
  • Work with manufacturing partners to transition designs from prototype to production

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience designing embedded hardware systems
  • Demonstrated ownership of PCB design, including:
    • Schematic capture
    • PCB layout (multi-layer boards)
    • Use of ECAD tools (Altium, Cadence, OrCAD, or similar)
  • Experience with analog and mixed-signal circuit design
  • Experience with power electronics or battery systems
  • Proven experience taking hardware from concept through bring-up and production
  • Hands-on experience debugging and validating physical hardware in a lab environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with flexible PCB (FPC) or rigid-flex design
  • High-speed design experience, including signal integrity and impedance control
  • Embedded firmware development in C/C++ (RTOS, ARM platforms)
  • Experience with sensor systems, IoT devices, or consumer electronics
  • Python for test automation or validation

What Success Looks Like

  • You have designed and shipped embedded hardware products
  • You are comfortable owning the full hardware lifecycle
  • You can move between circuit design, board layout, and firmware integration
  • You are experienced working hands-on with lab hardware and debugging tools

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and overall compensation package
  • Full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision
  • 401 (K) with generous company match
  • Generous Paid time off (PTO)
