Our client, a leading global distributor, is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to join their corporate finance team. This role focuses on managing complex revenue streams, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and driving system efficiency.
Position Overview
The Senior Revenue Accountant manages accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606 and ensures proper accounting of all transactions. You will oversee the month-end close, prepare journal entries, and reconcile accounts across multi-system environments. This role partners closely with FP& A to analyze sales variances and align finance with broader business strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Accounting & Compliance
- Interpret contracts to ensure proper revenue classification.
- Classify product, service, and subscription revenue streams.
- Prepare journal entries for deferred and accrued revenue.
- Manage month-end close processes for all revenue accounts.
- Oversee AR allowance for credit losses with collections.
fReconciliations & Analysis
- Reconcile revenue accounts between ERP and subledger systems.
- Manage cut-off procedures to ensure proper period-matching.
- Troubleshoot system data discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with FP& A to analyze actual vs. budget variances.
- Assist with revenue forecasts using actual sales trends.
Reporting & Collaboration
- Prepare and review GAAP financial statement disclosures.
- Report deferred revenue and contract liabilities accurately.
- Partner with Sales and Operations on accounting policies.
- Support internal and external audits for revenue transactions.
- Identify and implement process improvements for greater efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Certification: CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: 5 plus accounting experience
- Systems: Proven experience with large ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and subledgers.
- Skills: Advanced multi-system reconciliation and variance analysis skills.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex accounting concepts cross-functionally.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, including substantial exposure to revenue accounting and month-end close.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and manage complex balance sheet analyses.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially when working through variances across multiple systems.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across FP& A, sales, operations, and accounting teams.
