Job description

SUMMARY:

The Process Technologist will be directly responsible for process development, standardization, and improvements in processing, as well as be responsible for promoting the professional competence of the cross functional team through daily activities, training, and support.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement product formulations, conduct product trials, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Collect and analyze operational data and trends to develop improvement plans for process, formulas, and equipment.
  • Developing, evaluating, implementing, and maintaining the Thermal Processing programs to ensure the safety and quality of food products.
  • To create knowledge transfer to stakeholders at Saturn Petcare providing technical assistance and training.
  • Collaborate with customers and regulatory personnel during visits, inspections, and audits.
  • Support deviation analyses and recommend product dispositions as needed.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and provide technical assistance to optimize thermal processes and resolve issues.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in equipment hardware, software, and processes.
  • Ability to understand, monitor, and test, equipment, and systems.
  • Supports production continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drives continuous process improvement efforts by identification and reduction of process inefficiencies within the Engineering, R&D, and operations.
  • Comply with documentation standards, maintenance plans, and system specifications per SQF requirements.
  • Understand ingredients functionality and processability.
  • Follows all Company Safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with established production processes per SQF requirements.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping at the job site during and at completion of tasks according to SQF Requirements.
  • Communicates daily any special needs to the R&D Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in food engineering, chemical engineering, food processing, food chemistry, food science, or related discipline. Knowledge of thermal processing. At least 3 years of experience in food processing, thermal processing, food engineering, or related fields.

Computer and Technology Skills:

Knowledgeable Microsoft office applications preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as: safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to collect, interpret, and summarize data. Ability to apply concepts of statistics.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
