Job description

Job Summary:
As a Milk Marketing Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working directly with dairy producers, milk haulers, plant personnel, field staff, and health professionals. This role provides a unique opportunity to learn about milk quality, animal wellness, and on-the-farm support while contributing to programs and initiatives that help dairy operations succeed.
What you will be doing:
  • Development of standard work instructions (SWI) for conducting business reviews with Grande producers, milk haulers, and plant intake personnel.

  • Formalize the business review process with the use of power point slides decks.

  • Conduct short interviews with Grande Associates for business review meetings.

  • Interact with milk haulers and learn about the issues that affect the movement of milk from the farms to the plants.

  • Gain understanding of sales of cream and whey products.

  • Gain understanding of the importance of business relationships and how to improve and strengthen those relationships.

  • Learn about cream and whey products and through the sales and logistics of those sales.

  • Attend on farm meetings with dairy producers with other Grande Associates.

This internship offers valuable exposure to the dairy industry and the professionals who support it. You'll develop practical skills, build industry knowledge, and gain real-world experience in producer relations, business relationships, and milk movement logistics.

What you need to be considered for the role:
  • Junior or Senior standing and currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Dairy Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Business, or a related agricultural field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel.

  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to dairy farms and field locations.

Preferred:
  • Previous dairy farm experience.

  • Involvement in campus organizations, student groups, or extracurricular activities.

  • Volunteer experience outside of coursework.

  • Previous work experience, including part-time or seasonal employment.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills through work, school, or community involvement
