Job description

About the role:
The Food Safety Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role will focus on creating a culture of food safety within the operations, conducting training for staff, and ensuring that all food safety practices meet or exceed industry standards
Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop food safety policies: Design, implement, and manage food safety procedures aligned with global standards.
  • Conduct audits and inspections: Perform regular reviews of food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance: Maintain adherence to HACCP, FDA, USDA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with production and QA: Work with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate food safety risks.
  • Train staff: Educate employees on food safety, GMP, hygiene, and pest management protocols.
  • Investigate incidents: Lead root cause analysis of food safety events and implement corrective actions.
  • Review sanitation results: Monitor EMP and sanitation outcomes, ensuring timely resolution of non-conformities.
  • Validate critical controls: Oversee CCP/OPRP and allergen validations to meet all requirements.
  • Coordinate pest management: Partner with vendors to ensure effective pest control programs.
  • Maintain compliance records: Document GMP adherence, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Lead food safety culture: Drive continuous improvement and foster a strong food safety mindset across the organization.

About you:
  • Graduate degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • Deep knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, FDA, USDA, and industry standards.
  • Active presence on the floor, influencing others and fostering a positive compliance culture.
  • Ability to evaluate and mitigate risks within assigned areas.
  • Skilled in updating documentation and driving projects to elevate standards.
  • Experience designing, updating, and delivering training programs on GMP, hygiene, and food safety.
  • Strong background in environmental monitoring, sanitation rules, and cleaning validation.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data, applying quality control tools, and making independent decisions.
  • CCP/OPRP validation: Solid HACCP foundation with expertise in validating critical control points and operational prerequisites.
  • Skilled in MS Office; familiar with SAP, DMS, or other departmental systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, or similar frameworks is advantageous.
  • Experience in sanitation schedules, hygiene inspections, and regulatory compliance.
