Job Description:

Operates a variety of machine tools or special purpose equipment according to production specifications. Work from drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine operational sequence; set tools and select and set speeds and feeds according to type of material and finish requirements. Also perform duties associated with receiving, routing, and storing materials.

Additional Job Description

Operates machine tools such as; lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, or special purpose equipment according to production specifications and needs.

Verifies conformance of machined work to specifications using measuring instruments such as; calipers, micrometers, and fixed or telescoping gauges.

Reads and interprets machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups, and tooling requirements.

Selects and sets cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties.

Ensures safety operating procedures are followed throughout projects.
