Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) nurses are registered nurses who travel to remote or regional locations, often on a rostered basis, to provide healthcare services where there may be a shortage of permanent medical staff. They typically work in mining sites, rural hospitals, indigenous communities, or other isolated environments. FIFO nurses usually work for a set period, such as two weeks on and one week off, and their travel and accommodation are generally arranged by the employer. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work autonomously in diverse healthcare settings.
