Job description

Position: Flooring Manager
Hours: Core hours/schedule will be Monday - Friday (Some Saturday's may be required to support sales staff)
Pay: Salaried, Exempt

Peek behind the scenes - a day in the life of a Flooring Manager
The Flooring Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the flooring department, including developing and executing sales strategies, forecasting sales performance, and ensuring team success. The Flooring Manager will provide leadership through training and supervision of the estimation team, while actively supporting the flooring sales process to drive growth and customer satisfaction.
Here's what a day could look like:

  1. Manage and coordinate activities of independent installers, including all scheduling and monitoring of jobs.
  2. Ensure accurate selection of customer orders by reviewing all sales orders entered by salesperson.
  3. Manage accurate inventory levels on flooring products.
  4. Manage calls and challenges from the field, including issues that arise during the installation process.
  5. Job costing, analyzing, and managing margins on flooring products
  6. Greeting customer on the sales floor and managing the customer interactions with the sales teams.
  7. Keeping up to date on the wide selection of floors we have to offer along with the benefits and warranties provided by each. Training sales staff on products and benefits.
  8. Provide outstanding customer service to sales staff and outside clients, as needed. Includes helping sales staff work through their sales and following up after completion of job.
  9. Building client and vendor relationships. 
  10. Networking regularly and working effectively with all levels of the organization.
  11. Executing and training on sales strategies and products with sales team.
  12. Receiving payment or obtaining credit authorization, as needed.
  13. Using computer database to research availability of merchandise and to process sales team’s orders.  
  14. Answering questions from and providing information to customers and sales team.
  15. Assisting customers and sales team with flooring; explaining features and benefits of various types of flooring.
  16. Visiting customer’s homes or workplace to provide product and design advice.
  17. Select products and price points for Flooring Showroom to attain best product mix for the growth of the department.
  18. Maintain Flooring Showroom by keeping samples, displays and pricing neat, current, and clean.
  19. Prospecting for new business and installers in order to facilitate the growth of the Flooring Department.

  1. Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  2. 2-3 years managerial experience
  3. 2-3 years of previous flooring covering experience.
  4. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  5. Enthusiastic, positive attitude.
  6. Ability to communicate well with others and possess good problem-solving ability.
  7. Possess basic computer knowledge, previous experience with retail order entry software is a plus.
  8. Availability to work weekends may be required, along with overall scheduling flexibility.
  9. Valid driver’s license
