Overview

We are partnering with a growing commercial flooring contractor to identify a Commercial Division Manager to lead and expand its commercial, contract, and new construction business throughout the San Diego market. This is a hybrid leadership role responsible for driving division growth while overseeing sales, estimating, project management, operations, and financial performance.

This position is ideal for an experienced commercial flooring leader who is ready to take ownership of a business unit from day one. The Commercial Division Manager will be responsible for developing customer relationships, leading a high-performing commercial team, growing revenue, and ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining exceptional customer service and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall performance and profitability of the commercial and contract flooring division
• Maintain full accountability for division revenue, gross margin, operating performance, and long-term growth
• Recruit, coach, develop, and lead the commercial estimating and project management team
• Build and strengthen relationships with general contractors, developers, architects, property management firms, school districts, and other commercial clients
• Personally lead high-value estimates, proposals, and contract negotiations for strategic opportunities
• Drive business development through relationship building, account expansion, networking, and new customer acquisition
• Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline while forecasting future business opportunities
• Coordinate installation capacity, scheduling, and operational resources with internal teams
• Monitor project profitability, schedules, budgets, and successful project closeout activities
• Review pipeline performance, work-in-progress, backlog, and revenue forecasts with executive leadership
• Represent the organization at industry events, networking functions, and trade associations
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and continuous improvement


Ideal Background

• Minimum of 15 years of commercial flooring, contract flooring, or related commercial construction experience
• Proven success leading commercial flooring operations with direct responsibility for financial performance
• Experience managing estimating and project management teams
• Strong background developing relationships with general contractors, developers, architects, and commercial construction professionals
• Experience estimating commercial flooring projects across carpet, resilient flooring, hardwood, tile, stone, LVT, and specialty flooring products
• Thorough understanding of flooring installation methods, construction practices, and project execution
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
• Knowledge of prevailing wage, public works requirements, construction contracts, insurance, and project documentation preferred
• Experience utilizing commercial flooring software and construction management systems preferred
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, and business development skills
• OSHA certification preferred
