Job description

The Problem
As Flock scales its autonomous drone platform for public safety, expanding our aviation capabilities requires navigating an evolving regulatory environment alongside complex technical constraints across hardware, firmware, and cloud software. Hardening and scaling an American-made autonomous flight system demands a product leader who can connect regulatory realities with engineering execution. You will own our aviation product roadmap, drive cross-functional execution, and build durable flight capabilities for public safety agencies nationwide.
What You'll Own
  • Define and execute the product roadmap for Flock's aviation portfolio, balancing near-term customer priorities, regulatory dynamics, and long-term product vision.
  • Partner directly with Engineering to guide technical projects end-to-end across hardware, embedded software, connectivity, and cloud software.
  • Translate regulatory shifts across aviation oversight bodies into actionable product requirements and technical strategy.
  • Deepen understanding of operator personas across pilots, dispatchers, and patrol teams within the Drone as First Responder (DFR) ecosystem to refine product workflows.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and GTM teams to ensure seamless product rollouts and customer enablement.

What This Role is Not
  • This isn't a software-only or pure web application role, you will manage an integrated portfolio spanning hardware, embedded systems, wireless connectivity, and physical operations.
  • This is not a regulatory compliance position or legal role, you will interpret regulatory constraints to shape product direction alongside legal and compliance partners.
  • This isn't a hands-off strategy function, you will dive into technical architecture tradeoffs, manage engineering backlogs, and run sprint planning cadences directly with engineering teams.

What You Bring
  • Proven track record in technical product management leading complex products where hardware, software, and operational workflows intersect.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering closely with engineering teams to evaluate technical tradeoffs, manage scoping, and sequence execution.
  • Practical capability to navigate domain-specific regulatory constraints and integrate them into product roadmap decisions.
  • Strong customer intuition and market judgment, with the ability to connect user needs to execution priorities.
  • Familiarity with autonomous systems, robotics, drones, or similarly regulated environments is a plus.

Compensation
In this role, you'll receive a starting salary between $160,000 and $190,000 as well as Flock Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in depth with you during our first chat.
Why Flock
Every community deserves to be safe. Flock builds the technology that makes that real: last year we supported over 1 million criminal investigations and helped locate more than 10,000 missing people. We're 1,700 people building the impossible with over $1B in funding, and the expectations are high on purpose. If you want a role where the stakes are real and the pace matches, this is it.
Some problems get solved faster in the same room, so we prioritize candidates in Atlanta and Boston. Hub-based roles mean real in-person time with your coworkers. Remote roles exist, and when a posting is open to remote work, it says so.
the impossible takes every kind of mind. Flock is an equal opportunity employer, and we know the best solutions come from diverse perspectives, experiences, and skills working together with mutual respect. Everyone is welcome to apply. If you need assistance or an accommodation due to a disability, email recruiting@flocksafety.com; your information stays confidential and is used only to arrange the right accommodation for your interviews.
On compensation: we pay fairly for the work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education, training, and market indicators. The range in this posting covers base salary only and doesn't include equity, sales bonus plans where applicable, or benefits. The range may be adjusted over time, and this posting may span more than one career level.
One last thing: all legitimate communication from Flock comes from an email ending in @flocksafety.com or noreply@ashbyhq.com. We never make offers through messaging apps or third parties, and we never request payment or sensitive personal information during hiring. If you encounter suspicious outreach about a Flock role, report it to recruiting@flocksafety.com.
