Crew Member
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Crew Members are key members of our team and work to ensure the highest quality products at the front end of operations. They work across all areas of our Seed Production, Processing, Packaging, and Inventory activities. They work closely with and support multiple functions within the site and are a key element in delivering the pipeline on time and in full.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Crew Member, are to:
  • Perform under supervision in all functions of the site, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) which includes seed production, processing, packaging, and inventory activities. This includes activities such as field preparation, planting, pollinating, hand harvesting, machine harvesting, operation of seed processing equipment, crop protection, flex filling, jarring, seed counting, order fulfilment, in-season data collection, seed treating, irrigation, leading crews, bus driving, janitorial work, tractor operations, etc.
  • Follow daily direction and work priorities from site technicians and leadership.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by completing quality tasks through daily communication and coordination with other crew members and site leadership.
  • Actively participate in Bayer's safety program by adhering to all safety policies and training.
  • Report issues that may affect quality of products to supervisors.
  • Collect and enter data using current technologies.
  • Operate equipment, which may include but is not limited to; tractors, harvesters, shellers, sprayers, counters, flex fillers, sewing machines, and irrigation equipment as applicable.
  • Assist other projects and duties as required or assigned.

WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours per week) with the ability to meet overtime demands including occasional shift work, weekends, and holidays;
  • Willing and able to work in a variety of areas including the seed processing facility, fields, and/or warehouse environment.
  • Frequent walking and standing is required on flat and uneven surfaces. This can include frequent work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions;
  • Ability to climb ladders and occasionally perform elevated work;
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull 40-50 pounds regularly;
  • Must be able to understand and communicate effectively, both verbally and written;
  • Must be able to learn applicable technology, to include (but not limited to) handheld devices and desktop computers;
  • Ability to function both individually and as a member of a team.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $17.68 - $21.48 per hour. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
