What is a Flexible Epic Super User?

A Flexible Epic Super User is a healthcare professional who has advanced knowledge of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system and provides support to other users within their organization. They are called 'flexible' because they can assist in different departments or roles, adapting to various workflows and needs. Their responsibilities often include training staff, troubleshooting issues, and helping optimize the use of Epic software. Super Users act as a bridge between end users and the IT or Epic support teams, ensuring smooth system adoption and use. This role is critical during Epic implementations or system upgrades.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Flexible Epic Super User, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Flexible Epic Super User, you need in-depth knowledge of Epic electronic health record (EHR) workflows, problem-solving abilities, and previous experience in a healthcare setting. Familiarity with Epic modules, user support tools, and possibly Epic certification are typically required. Strong communication, patience, and the ability to train and support diverse users are standout soft skills. These competencies are important to ensure efficient EHR usage, smooth system adoption, and ongoing user satisfaction across healthcare teams.
