Job description

Safety & Fleet Manager

The mission of the Fleet and Safety Manager is to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all company vehicles, equipment, and field crews. Reporting to the Director of HR, the Fleet and Safety Manager will oversee maintenance programs, promote a strong safety culture, and minimize risk exposure to support the company's operational excellence and growth goals.

Location: Raleigh, NC (preferred) or Charlotte, NC

Salary: $80,000

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience managing fleet operations and/or safety programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and vehicle maintenance regulations.
  • OSHA-10 required; OSHA-30 preferred
  • Proficiency in fleet management software (e.g., Samsara, Fleetio, Geotab).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Management

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and replacement of company vehicles and equipment.
  • Schedule and track preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of registrations, titles, inspections, and insurance.
  • Manage GPS tracking systems, fuel cards, and fleet management software.
  • Work with vendors and mechanics for parts, service, and warranty claims.
  • Monitor fleet utilization and develop strategies to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Overnight travel within and to nearby States is required 50% of the time.

Safety Management

  • Develop, implement, and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
    Conduct regular safety inspections, job-site audits, and vehicle checks.
    Lead safety meetings and training for field crews and drivers.
    Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and corrective action plans.
    Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other relevant federal/state regulations.
    Maintain safety records, certifications, and documentation
  • Manage all Standard Operating Procedures for safety and fleet management
  • Point of contact for all safety and worker's compensation claims including injury, equipment and vehicle incidents.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Oversee driver qualification files and ensure all operators meet licensing requirements.
  • Track and manage vehicle and equipment insurance, claims, and renewals.
  • Implement programs to reduce risk, incidents, and insurance costs.
  • Collaborate with HR on worker's compensation cases and return-to-work programs.
  • Manage OSHA logs and other metrics to include EMR; TRIR; DART; etc.

Leadership & Communication

  • Train and coach team members on safe driving and equipment operation.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all fleet and safety matters.
  • Partner with operations leadership to align safety goals with field performance.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on fleet status and safety performance metrics.
  • All other duties as assigned
