Job description

Independently coordinates and schedules a fleet of drivers according to customer requests in compliance with company rules and DOT regulations to maximize operational performance and customer satisfaction. Supervises activities of drivers and maintains daily communication with the customer on areas impacting operational performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible to coach and counsel drivers in such areas as safety, performance, productivity and morale. Supervise all activities of drivers.
  • Direct and schedule driver's work. Plan, assign, and distribute daily work to while coordinating loads, equipment and backhauls to achieve maximum utilization of the fleet.
  • Manage work assignments. Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, manpower and other resources to ensure an effective, efficient operation. Organize, plan and implement transportation solutions for assigned customers that utilize the best cost option to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, vendors and other Ruan locations
  • Perform administrative functions to include payroll, billing, driver counseling and post-accident reviews.
  • Participate in the review and analysis of operating performance.
  • Properly use the Ruan transportation management systems to ensure all required operational data is accurately captured in a near real-time manner.
  • Monitor and promote safety and compliance with company policies and federal, state and local regulations in all areas of the operation.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Transportation or Logistics or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
Experience: 1-2 of experience in Transportation or similar industry role.
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations strongly desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of dispatch systems is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
