Job description

Work Schedule Hours: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Position Overview: The Safety Coordinator supports the implementing and overseeing of safety at work. Their main duty is to ensure that the company complies and adheres to the company and regulatory requirements. The incumbent should possess the basic skills and knowledge to perform depot, essential safety, and compliance functions with the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks. The ideal candidate has intermodal transportation experience, strong driver recruiting skills, and working knowledge of Samsara and Tenstreet. This individual understands Hours of Service requirements, supports safety and compliance efforts, and can effectively coach drivers to improve performance, maintain compliance, and promote safe operating practices.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and coordinate new driver orientations
  • Provide support and act as a backup to Operations when needed
  • Assist the Recruiting Coordinator with applicable tasks
  • Support the training and certifying of the Driver Instructors and Driver Trainers
  • Assist in recruiting qualified Owner Operators and Company Drivers
  • Be an active partner and provide assistance in ongoing and corrective actions with driver instruction and training
  • Assist with accident investigations and reviews
  • Provide support with the training and certifying of container lift and yard truck operators
  • Install onboard dash cameras and Electronic Log Devices
  • New driver ELD training
  • Other duties as assigned

After training, the incumbent should be able to:

  • Conduct CMV driver safety instruction, operations instruction and training & container lift and yard truck instruction and training
  • Ability to conduct CMV driver safety and operations instruction and training
  • Have a good knowledge of FMCSA, and a complete understanding of FMCSA part 395- Hours of Service of Drivers
  • Understand applicable areas of intermodal and transportation knowledge

Salary Range: $60-65k annually depending on experience
