Job Title: Safety Coordinator

Position Summary

The individual is responsible for administering the facility safety programs as well as developing, updating, and delivering employee training programs. Special projects will be assigned as the need arises.

Essential Job Functions
  • Creates, develops, and maintains all aspects of the plant safety programs to ensure the facility is in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Works with the facilities Sanitation Manager to develop and implement training programs for employees on equipment and employee practices.
  • Maintains facility security through the implementation of the card key system with the Human Resources Generalist.
  • Maintains the facility mapping systems for exits (evacuation routes), fire extinguishers, and tornado shelters. Works with the fire system contractor and Maintenance Manager to maintain the facility alarm system.
Other Responsibilities
  • Maintains registers for locker room lockers and new clothes lockers.

Job Specifications

Education/Training: BS/BA in business or related field or demonstrated experience.

Experience/Knowledge/Abilities:

Required:

  1. 3+ years experience in a food manufacturing facility
  2. Excellent communication skills
  3. Working knowledge of MS Office software
  4. Strong leadership and coaching skills

Preferred:

  1. Food manufacturing experience
  2. Bilingual English / Spanish
Employees Supervised: Contacts: Works with all levels of plant employees and vendors as needed

Work Environment: Typical food manufacturing environment with some exposure to heat and cold environments

Travel Required (%): Minimal

Equipment Used: Working knowledge of plant production equipment and computers.
