Job description

OJ Insulation is part of the Installed Building Products (IBP) family of companies. Whatever your needs are, you can trust us to offer high-quality materials and service. We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Fireplace Installer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience or aptitude in construction or installation work and be comfortable working at heights. This role involves the installation of fireplaces, venting systems, and related flashings in residential and commercial settings.

Responsibilities:
  • Loads and logs materials onto the truck and makes a notation of returned materials
  • Installs new gas, wood, and or electrical burning fireplaces in home, multi-family, or commercial projects
  • Erects scaffolding or ladders to the height needed to install insulation. Uses and operates aerial lifts as needed.
  • Measures and installs mantles and granite base as needed around fireplaces
  • Repairs and maintains existing fireplaces
  • Observe job site safety rules and know the location of the MSDS packets in your vehicle
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment. Responsible for complying with Cal OSHA guidelines and company safety
  • policies and procedures
  • Maintain tools, truck housekeeping, and maintenance
  • Responsible for completing the time card daily and ensuring it is submitted on time
  • Assist with customers and complete job order paperwork
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provide excellent customer service and address client questions or concerns professionally.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure quality workmanship.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a fireplace installer is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and elevated surfaces. Able to work at heights up to 45ft.
  • Experience in the construction industry is a plus
  • Able to climb up and down a ladder, scaffolds, and work within the framing of the building up to heights of 45ft.
  • Able to perform basic math skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently or with a crew
  • Able to climb into, operate, and work in an aerial lift
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in measuring and cutting fireplace materials.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and the importance of workplace safety.
  • Position requires a drug test and physical to be completed, contingent upon employment.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to use common hand tools, including utility knife, saws, pliers, drills, measuring tape, etc.
  • Must be able to read job instructions and record materials used for each work/job order
  • Must be able to work in tight places, including attics and crawlspaces
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 100lbs
  • Must be able to climb ladders up and down, scaffolds, and aerial lifts at heights up to 45ft.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, and turn the body at the shoulders, waist, and knees to install fireplaces
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Able to work at heights up to 45 feet
  • Frequently installs, moves fireplace material, and products weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Able to consistently lift, push, kneel, crouch, and reach while handling the tools necessary to install fireplaces
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use depth perception
  • Must be able to climb on the back of flatbed commercial trucks to load and unload material

To Be Successful
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Maintain a valid driver's license
  • Experience in finish Carpentry or residential construction is helpful, but not required
  • National Fireplace Institute Certification will be provided after the candidate has achieved enough experience
