Job Title: Fireplace Service Technician
Company: COASTROAD Hearth & Patio
Location: Shallotte, North Carolina (service area includes surrounding residential communities)
Position Summary

The Fireplace Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mostly gas fireplace systems in local residences and, occasionally, commercial environments. This role requires strong technical expertise, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and the ability to deliver a structured, professional in-home service experience aligned with COASTROADs customer-first philosophy.
Technicians serve as both technical experts and customer-facing representatives of the company, ensuring each service call is executed with precision, clarity, and a high level of professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:

Technical Diagnostics & Repair

  • Perform in-home troubleshooting and repair of gas fireplaces, inserts, and related components.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as manometers, multimeters, and leak detection equipment to identify system issues.
  • Diagnose problems related to ignition systems, gas flow, ventilation, thermocouples, valves, pilot assemblies, and electronic controls.
  • Execute repairs efficiently while adhering to manufacturer specifications, safety codes, and company standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and performance optimization of fireplace systems.
  • Thank the customer and reinforce COASTROADs commitment to ongoing support.
  • Recommend annual service scheduling where appropriate.
Customer Experience & Communication

  • Deliver a calm, professional, and reassuring experience in customers homes.
  • Communicate technical information in a clear, understandable manner.
  • Maintain a no-pressure, consultative approach consistent with company values.
  • Represent the brand with integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Documentation & Reporting

  • Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and recommendations.
  • Maintain service records and update internal systems promptly.
  • Communicate follow-up needs or additional project opportunities to the team.
Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety standards, including gas handling, ventilation, and combustion safety.
  • Ensure all work complies with local codes, manufacturer guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Identify and communicate any safety hazards to homeowners immediately.
Qualifications:

Required

  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently in residential environments.
