Job description

BMA is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to join our team in Beltsville, MD.
Job Summary
BMA has an opening for a Senior Engineer II to join our team of talented and diverse individuals in Beltsville, MD. The Senior Engineer will work directly with government customers, field agents, and teammates to facilitate laboratory operations, prepare test records and reports, develop and follow safety plans, maintain laboratory data management systems, manage instrumentation and integration, and develop work orders to coordinate work efforts with different elements of the organization. This position demands a focused individual who can both work independently and collaborate with other stakeholders to support the customer's needs.
Duties:
  • Assists the Program Manager in executing project design, development, and support tasks to facilitate Fire Research and Fire Safety testing
  • Supports development of work orders for testing designs
  • Supports data configuration and management activities
  • Creates safety plans for test activities
  • Prepares test records and testing reports
  • Executes tasks in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures
  • Assists with instrumentation setup, maintenance, breakdown, transportation and storage in accordance with laboratory testing schedule
  • Collaborates with project team members to communicate project status and issues to the Customer, Program Manager, and technical leads
  • Assists with clarification of project objectives and works with Project Manager to define the project's deliverables

Clearance Requirement
There is a Secret security clearance requirement for this role at time of proposal submission.
Required Skills & Certifications
  • US Citizen with Secret Clearance
  • A graduate from an accredited university or college with a degree in engineering (e.g., fire protection, civil, mechanical, chemical) or associated science (chemistry, physics, environmental sciences) having specific experience in fire science and engineering and the following minimum education and experience: BS/BA with at least 15 years of experience, or MS with 13 years of experience, or Ph.D./Doctorate with at least 12 years of experience
  • Effectiveness in the use of computer tools, e.g., spreadsheets and databases
  • Solid Visio and Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a continuous process improvement culture

Desired Skills & Certifications
  • Job experience in a fire-related or laboratory-related field
  • Engineering Degree preferred
