Senior Fire Protection Engineer – Chicago, IL


PTS Advance is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join a leading AEC client supporting complex, high-impact building and infrastructure projects across Illinois.


Location: Chicago (Hybrid/Onsite options depending on client)

Role Overview


This individual will lead fire protection engineering design efforts from concept through construction, supporting mission-critical, healthcare, commercial, and institutional projects. You’ll serve as a technical leader in life safety, code compliance, and fire protection system design.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead design of fire protection and life safety systems (sprinkler, standpipe, fire alarm coordination support)
  • Perform code analysis using NFPA, IBC, IFC, and local AHJ requirements
  • Coordinate with MEP teams, architects, and structural engineers
  • Conduct risk assessments and life safety evaluations
  • Review shop drawings and support construction administration
  • Interface with clients and AHJs during design and permitting phases


Requirements:

  • PE license preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • 7+ years in fire protection engineering/design
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and building fire/life safety systems
  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, commercial, or mission-critical facilities
  • Revit experience preferred
