Job description

Vontier is seeking an experienced, collaborative and highly motivated accounting professional who will play a critical role in supporting our external reporting and technical accounting functions. 

The Manager of External Reporting will lead the day-to-day operations of the external financial reporting function and play a key role in the planning, development, and implementation of key accounting policies and reporting initiatives. This role will provide experience and exposure to key business transactions spanning acquisitions and divestitures, financing-related initiatives, and industry-specific issues with an opportunity to lead the technical accounting and reporting analysis for emerging transactions that arise.

**This is a Hybrid position. 3 days onsite in the Raleigh, NC office. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead the timely and accurate preparation of Vontier's external financial reports, including reports filed with the SEC on Form 10-Q and 10-K, while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Monitor new accounting pronouncements and accounting policy developments and support implementation efforts, including education of our corporate teams and operating companies, as relevant
  • Work in partnership with OpCos, corporate accounting, corporate development, tax and stock administration teams, among others, to provide support and guidance for new business models and accounting transactions
  • Prepare and manage the quarterly SEC reporting calendar, including coordination with external auditors, Investor Relations, Legal, Treasury, Tax, and the operating companies to ensure consistent and accurate reporting of results and messaging to external stakeholders
  • Liaise with external auditors in planning and executing their work
  • Lead and/or participate in the continuous improvement of Vontier's finance processes, utilizing the Vontier Business System
  • Assist the consolidations team with the monthly consolidation of Vontier's financial statements
  • Prepare and review journal entries and share in ownership of the Vontier corporate ledger
  • Special projects and other related activities on an ad hoc basis

WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)

Our successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, intellectually curious and have a strong work ethic. You are a self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities and work on several key projects at a given time. It is important that our candidate demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work with people at multiple levels of our organization, including Vontier's Chief Accounting Officer, VP of Investor Relations, and OpCo leadership.

  • Strong working knowledge of public company (SEC-regulated) financial reporting filing requirements and related system and technology platforms, such as Workiva
  • Prior public accounting experience preferred
  • BS or BA degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA designation preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated technical skills including strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving, strong communication skills (written and oral), ability to analyze financial statements and impacts, time management skills and ability to exercise sound professional judgment
  • Ability to work independently, high-degree of self-initiative and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Advanced Excel skills, experience with HFM or Workiva is a plus
