 Occupational Summary

Serve as a Manager in Corporate Finance, primarily responsible for managing the cost accounting or the patient data reporting processes as assigned. This role requires a highly analytical leader capable of driving accuracy and efficiency within a massive, multi-billion-dollar health system environment.

 Core Responsibilities (Work Performed)
  • Process Management: Manage processes over the assigned area, ensuring that tasks are completed timely and accurately based on the established monthly calendar.

  • Audit & Reporting: Manage the monthly audit, analysis, and reporting completed by the Financial Analysts. Prepare comprehensive written reports and trend analyses.

  • Reconciliation: Perform strict system reconciliations to source systems and documents.

  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Manage the coordination of ad-hoc requests, ensuring complex analyses are completed as needed and within tight deadlines.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, review the work of, and train two (2) assigned Financial Analysts.

  • Staff Development: Develop professional staff and recommend various personnel actions, including (but not limited to) hiring, performance appraisals, transfers, promotions, and vacation schedules.

  • General Duties: Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Candidate Profile)

To be successful in this aggressive growth and acquisition phase, the ideal candidate must possess the following profile:

  • Scale & Ambiguity: Proven track record of managing financial processes for multi-billion-dollar projects (supporting a $9B operating budget). Must be highly adaptable and comfortable managing through ambiguity.

  • Project Management & Work Ethic: Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. Must possess the flexibility and willingness to work extended hours on critical projects to meet or exceed strict deadline expectations.

  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Interact on a routine basis with leaders at all levels of the Health System and University, requiring excellent, executive-level oral and written communication skills.

  • Collaboration: Coordinate efforts with other Finance and Operations departments across the Health System, requiring exceptional interpersonal, partnership, and team-building skills.

  • Technical & AI Proficiency: Significant analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve process efficiencies is required. Familiarity with financial systems such as Strata and Axiom is a strong plus.

 Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required, demonstrating strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with rigorous attention to detail.

  • Note: An MBA is considered highly valuable for this specific role and is strongly preferred over a standard bachelor's degree.

Experience

  • Generally requires eight (8) years of progressive accounting, financial management, and/or financial auditing experience, including deep knowledge of financial reporting.

  • Substitution: A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of experience (effectively requiring 6 years of experience).

  • Experience in an academic medical center or complex healthcare system is strongly preferred.

  • Master's Degree or CPA preferred.
