Overview
As our Financial Data Engineer, you'll help drive Concora Credit's Mission to enable customers to Do More with Credit - every single day.

As a Financial Data Engineer, your primary role will be to build and optimize foundational data marts and reporting packages, become an expert on how Finance utilizes data, and find areas to improve business processes that support reporting and analysis across the Finance Department. You will also partner with non-data users to deliver solutions by understanding the underlying data and its usage.
With the support of subject matter experts and other senior engineers, this role will combine the technical skills of data engineering with internal business knowledge to build end-to-end data pipeline architecture, data flows, data transformations, and clear documentation.

Responsibilities
As our Financial Data Engineer, you will:
  • Create and manage large, complex data sets that meet business requirements and serve as the foundation behind analytics and management reporting, informing critical decision-making across the Finance Department.
  • Partner with non-data users to deliver solutions by becoming an expert on our financial data.
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture, including optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data, leveraging Databricks notebooks, Apache Spark (SQL, Python, Scala), and other Microsoft Azure or open-source tools as required, with support of Engineers and Sr. Engineers.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation about data structures in the shared data governance tool for the business to access.
  • Become an expert on the complete data cycle for finance from ingestion to reporting.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, etc.
  • Assist in the creation and development of reports or dashboards by building scalable, high-quality data sets.

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar field OR Equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with the following tools: SQL or relational databases, Python, data pipeline management such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or Apache Spark for batch and streaming.
  • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Quick learner with intellectual curiosity to understand a dynamic and complex business.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-review work products are critical.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with senior executives.
  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver results in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Financial Services companies is preferred but not required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role.
