Financial Controller

The Opportunity

Cold Lake First Nations is seeking a Financial Controller to support the financial operations of Integrated Services.

This role is responsible for ensuring strong financial management, accountability, and compliance across programs and funding streams. The Financial Controller will work closely with leadership to support planning, reporting, and decision-making, while contributing to the continued strengthening of financial systems and practices.

This position plays an important role in supporting the Nations direction toward self-determination under its own law, including the implementation of C-92.

What Youll Be Responsible For

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, tracking, and reporting
  • Support the development and ongoing monitoring of annual and multi-year budgets
  • Prepare clear, accurate financial reports for leadership, Chief and Council, and funders
  • Ensure compliance with funding agreements (ISC, provincial, federal)
  • Coordinate audits and maintain audit readiness
  • Support the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Work closely with program leadership to ensure expenditures align with program objectives and funding requirements
  • Monitor expenditures and provide variance analysis with practical recommendations
  • Support financial components of funding proposals and reporting requirements
  • Contribute to the ongoing strengthening of internal financial systems and processes

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • CPA or working toward designation is an asset
  • 58+ years of progressive financial or accounting experience
  • Experience in public sector, non-profit, or Indigenous organizations is an asset
  • Experience working within multi-funder environments with reporting requirements
  • Strong understanding of audits, compliance, and financial controls
