What is a Field Application Engineer?

A Field Application Engineer (FAE) is a technical professional who works closely with customers to provide support, product demonstrations, and technical expertise on complex products, typically in industries like electronics, semiconductors, or software. FAEs act as a bridge between the engineering teams of a company and its clients, helping to solve technical issues, customize solutions, and ensure successful product implementation. They often travel to customer sites to offer hands-on assistance and gather feedback, which they relay back to their internal teams. The role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.

  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), drafting tools, and CAM software (e.g., CAM350, inCAM) is advantageous.
  • Must be self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision, and adept at using sound judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
