Designs, develops, tests, deploys, maintains, and enhances test automation frameworks for Web, API, Mobile and middle-tier (Java micro-services) and Cloud (Amazon Web Services (AWS)) customer-facing software solutions. Applies technical tools and methodologies to enable efficiencies, performance, and automation of DevOps processes. Ensures the Continuous Integration (CI) and delivery pipelines using Jenkins and Docker. Builds Cloud experiences and Cloud-based testing solutions using AWS. Participates in requirement analysis to identify and adopt best practices for product engineering. Develops and tests products and applications to support sales performance, services, reporting, and representative compensation processes. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Java web applications using Cloud services platforms and building test automation frameworks for end-to-end testing.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing Java web applications using Cloud services platforms and building test automation frameworks for end-to-end testing.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") defining and driving software delivery processes and quality improvement initiatives at the enterprise level using industry standard automation tools --Selenium, Rest Assured, and TestNg.
  • DE performing strategic trade-offs and resolving technical roadblocks in a dynamic and highly matrixed environment using data-driven approaches.
  • DE building software frameworks and foundations to enable and accelerate data modeling and ingestion; building Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines; designing and building test automation frameworks, developing RESTful APIs, and scaling and maintaining solutions in production environments adhering to compliance standards and using Java with Cloud technology platforms.
  • DE developing highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems using object oriented programming (Java), AWS Cloud services, RESTful APIs, and web technologies.
