Responsibilities
Join our team at as a Data Engineer and play a pivotal role in designing, creating, deploying, and managing our company's data systems. This essential position supports our growth and innovation by ensuring the availability of high-quality data. You will be responsible for designing and building scalable data pipelines, developing data models, and implementing strategies for data acquisition and management. Your expertise in data infrastructure and database management will enhance the availability, reliability, and integrity of data used across the organization.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
  • Design and Build Database Systems: Design, construct, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems that adhere to both business requirements and industry best practices.
  • Data Modeling and Design: Create data models and architecture patterns that optimize functionality, cost, performance, scalability, reusability, security, and extensibility.
  • Data Strategy and Management: Devise, support and implement strategies for data acquisition, archival recovery, and database implementations to ensure data fidelity and cleanliness.
  • Integration and Migration: Maintain robust data integrity across a variety of data sources and systems, facilitating data migrations and preparing data for advanced analytics.
  • Performance Management: Oversee and enhance the performance and storage of database systems through automated maintenance scripts.
  • Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with developers, data scientists, analysts, and others to support data-related technical needs and improvements.
  • Innovation and Research: Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, advocating for new tools and techniques that can enhance our data architecture and management capabilities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant data engineering experience.
  • Analytical thinker with experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment.
  • Technical expertise with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with database design and data modeling, preferable experience with Data Vault methodology.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting SSIS packages.
  • Experience consuming event-based data through APIs or queues.
  • Experience in Agile software development.
  • Experience with insurance data highly desired.
  • Detail oriented, solid organizational, and problem-solving.
  • Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
  • Team oriented with a strong willingness to serve others in an agile startup environment.
  • Flexible in assuming new responsibilities as they arise.
  • Experience with Power Bi desired.

This role is based in our Overland Park, KS office. It is a full-time, in-office role.
