The Staff Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, infrastructure, and data visualization to support our data-driven decision-making processes. The scope of this job includes collaborating with data scientists, analysts, solutions partners, and other stakeholders to increase data quality, accessibility, and security.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, develop, and maintain the data architecture, data models, and standards for various data integration and data warehousing in enterprise data warehouse.
  • Research, develop, and maintain data solutions to enable new or existing solutions and BI development for the enterprise driven data warehouse and data visualization solutions.
  • Maintain current data infrastructure for performance, scalability, and reliability across all data workflows.
  • Influence code reviews through WellSky solution subject matter expertise.
  • Develop and train teammates for data security, architecture, and governance requirements while maintaining data quality standards through automation.
  • Adhere to WellSky core values, ensure PHI data security, and adapt to changing BI technologies.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 8-12 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience managing replication tools (HVR/Fivetran, DataStream, or similar CDC tools) to replicate data from source systems into BigQuery in real-time or near-real-time
  • Experience with event-based data capture and streaming using Apache Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, or similar messaging platforms
  • Strong experience with star schema design, dimensional modeling, and modern data platform patterns for analytics-ready solutions
  • Experience with Dataflow, Airflow, dbt, Dataform, or equivalent tools for high-volume pipeline orchestration
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Terraform for automated, scalable data engineering
  • Working knowledge of AI-based development tools and workflows (e.g., AI-assisted coding, LLM integration, prompt engineering for data workflows)
  • Working knowledge of reporting and dashboarding tools (Tableau, Looker, Sisense) with experience embedding analytics into multi-tenant client application systems
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS application architectures

Job Expectations:
  • Willing to work as a part on an on-call rotation
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed
  • Must work in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures to safeguard company and client information
  • Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time
