Job Title: Junior Proposal Writer

Location: Herndon, VA

Position Overview

AttainX, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Proposal Writer to join our growing Proposal Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in government contracting, technical writing, and proposal development. The Junior Proposal Writer will support the preparation of high-quality, compliant, and compelling proposals in response to U.S. Government and commercial solicitations. The successful candidate will work closely with proposal managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), capture managers, and technical staff to develop proposal content, perform research, and support proposal production activities.


The ideal candidate possesses strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to learn the federal proposal development process.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 0–2 years of professional experience in proposal writing, technical writing, communications, marketing, business development, or related areas.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading, and editing abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of proposals, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Sources Sought notices, and other business development materials.
  • Support proposal managers in organizing and coordinating proposal activities.
  • Conduct customer, competitor, and market research to support proposal development efforts.
  • Assist in analyzing solicitation requirements and documenting proposal instructions.
  • Help create compliance matrices, proposal outlines, and response templates.
  • Draft, edit, proofread, and format proposal content under the guidance of senior proposal personnel.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to gather information and support content development.
  • Maintain proposal files, templates, resumes, past performance information, and proposal repositories.
  • Support proposal reviews by incorporating comments and edits from reviewers.
  • Assist with proposal production activities, including formatting, quality checks, and final submission preparation.
  • Participate in proposal kick-off meetings, status meetings, and lessons-learned sessions.
  • Ensure all proposal documents adhere to company standards, branding guidelines, and solicitation requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to proposal processes, templates, and tools.
