The Opportunity

RS&H is seeking to hire an FDOT E&O Program Lead in Tallahassee, FL!

This position is responsible for oversight and management of the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) maintenance program in Tallahassee, FL.  The individual will manage operations of the warehouse and maintenance yard, including operation of equipment, inventory tracking, equipment and facility maintenance, and other tasks as assigned. 

The individual must be able to travel and is expected to be responsive after hours, on weekends, and during emergency events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of transportation engineering principles and practices. 
  • Skilled in management principles and practices, conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques. 
  • Ability to administer and manage multiple projects, determine priorities and needs and meet deadlines in accordance with procedures; read, analyze, and interpret pertinent engineering data, plans, specifications, design standards, manuals and maps.
  • Identify and document personnel performance evaluations.
  • Perform field inspections and evaluations.
  • Collect, evaluate, and analyze data to prepare reports and to develop alternative recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; lead teams, supervise, motivate, manage, train, and work with diverse group of people; communicate technical engineering information verbally and in writing to all audiences.
  • Interpret and apply state and federal policies and guidelines, regulations, and other required documents relating to engineering issues.

Expected Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs advanced maintenance and transportation engineering duties responsible for the administration of the FDOT warehouse and maintenance yard program. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff. Recommends production planning, scheduling. Formulates and recommends safe work procedures, and develops new, innovative, and improved work methods. Answers correspondence and ensures all documents meet Department rules and policies
  • Oversees the supervision and direction of in-house work crews to ensure the maximum use of time and resources are safely achieved to include setting of priorities for crews that perform routine maintenance activities. Monitors daily crew reports to ensure accuracy of information provided.
  • Oversees all activities performed by the vehicle maintenance and repair facility and warehouse. Ensures that all modifications, repairs, and preventative maintenance services performed on the Department fleet are properly completed and documented.
  • Coordinates the Emergency Management Program of the unit. Ensures proper resources are assigned and accounted for during natural disasters and other emergency situations. Ensures cost accounting measures are followed and properly documented to maximize the potential for reimbursement from federal partners. In addition, coordinates the units Occupational, Health and Safety and Hazardous Material Programs.
  • Coordinates field work activities with personnel to deliver seamless activities.
  • Identifies plans and coordinates general facility maintenance  and other miscellaneous projects. Performs reviews, researches, and plans implementation of repairs and improvements to facilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 7 years experience leading engineering maintenace programs or teams
  • Able to travel and is expected to be responsive after hours, on weekends, and during emergency events.

Travel:

  • Individual will be based in Tallahassee, FL but expected travel is up to 50%. Travel is expected during emergency response events.
