Job description

Our Ohio Transportation team is growing, and we're looking for a Construction Engineering Inspector II to support ODOT roadway and bridge construction projects across the state.

What You'll Do
As a Construction Engineering Inspector II, you'll play a vital role in delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation systems across Ohio. You will:
  • Inspect ODOT construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Perform precise field measurements and calculations to ensure accuracy in materials, quantities, and project documentation.
  • Monitor materials and workmanship, conducting field tests to confirm compliance with ODOT and project requirements.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports and maintain detailed as-built documentation using AASHTOWare Project (AWP) and GoFormz or similar tools.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and clients to address field issues, maintain safety, and ensure smooth project progress.
  • Work in the field, rain or shine, where your expertise makes a visible impact on the future of Ohio's transportation network.
  • Travel across the region as needed, with occasional overnight stays based on project schedules.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field; OR
  • Associate degree plus 2+ years of construction inspection experience; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and 4+ years of relevant field experience
  • Minimum of two construction-related certifications
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications
  • ODOT Project Inspector, Structure, Soils and Aggregate, Coatings, and/or Traffic Signal and Lighting prequalification.
  • Experience leading or mentoring other field inspectors
  • Strong understanding of ODOT specifications, roadway construction, and materials testing
  • Proficiency in AASHTOWare Project (AWP), Sharepoint, GoFormz, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to build relationships with contractors, engineers, and clients
